“Looking at the title, it is easy to see that this German outfit don’t hang about, do they? This European jug band now consists of Notker Homburger (vocals, guitar and jug), the Swiss Andi Reinhard (alto and baritone saxes, jug, percussion and vocals), and the American Bill Flowe on violin, concertina and vocals. This eight track, 26 minute CD is the usual unusual mix of Blues, Jazz, Old Time and European folk music, and like all the best jug band music, it manages to sound ramshackle yet sophisticated, teetering on the edge of chaos but never actually falling into the abyss. There are very inventive reworkings of Robert Johnson (“Rambling On My Mind”) and Willie Cobbs’ “You Don’t Love Me” (‘an astounding reworking’ might be a better description of the latter!) rubbing shoulders with the likes of “Bodensee Polkas” and a twenties jazz styled “Boodle-Am Shake”. A band that continually amuses, amazes, and delights – and off the wall, as always!”
